Weight loss reduces cancer risk in overweight women

According to a new study, obese or overweight women who lose weight just at least 5 percent of
their body weight may lower their levels of the type of inflammation linked with cancer.

The conclusions show that women who dieted, worked out and dropped a few pounds saw their
stages of an swelling marking known as C-reactive amino-acids fall by 42 %, and reduced their stages of another swelling marking attached to cancer malignancy, known as interleukin-6, by
23% over the course of a year.

"Both being overweight and swelling have been proven to be related to several types of cancer
malignancy," said research specialist Dr. Angel McTiernan, of the Sam Hutchinson Cancer
Research Heart in Washington. Research have attached being overweight to an improved risk of
malignancies of the endometrium, intestinal tract, pancreatic and renal. Progression of as many as
25 % of malignancies is likely triggered by a inactive way of life and higher-than-normal
body-weight, McTiernan said.
